More Info

I am a sculptor and a mould maker, living and working in a converted Baptist Chapel studio in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.
I studied sculpture and received my Master’s degree in fine art at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Art, Poland in1998.
In recent years I have been running portrait sculpture workshops at home and one day sculpture workshops in Art Space Cinderford and other venues around the Forest of Dean.
Moving to the Forest of Dean in 2011, allowed me gradually to produce more work which I exhibit at local venues as well as during annual Open Studios exhibitions. In 2022, I had a one person show at the 7Q Gallery in Chepstow. For several years, my work has been exhibited at the annual exhibition of the Society of Portrait Sculptors in London.
In my artistic explorations I practice life drawing, and whenever I can, use models for my sculpting work. I work in soft materials like clay or plasticine which respond easily to my emotion and quick touch. Clay seems to be my favourite material, but I also enjoy working in other mediums like stone and wood. Their harder nature has different positive characteristics and qualities for me, especially as I like to keep tool marks visible.
I am quite driven by storytelling and like to research the language of symbols that would depict both the essence and transience of human experience. I believe that evoking metaphorical images from life is one of the ways to create a story, or myth- which arises from our time and can be the key to expressing our spiritual lives.
