I make wheel-thrown stoneware pottery, designed for everyday use, and glazed with local clays from Herefordshire and the Forest of Dean, weathered in sun and frost and sieved to make pure clay slips. These interact with my celadon glazes to create spontaneous opalescent Chun effects. Further decoration is with small ammonite sprigs, wax or leaf resist, and sgraffitto. Increasingly, I've been making figurines: interacting human figures, hares and semi-abstract horses decorated with garden leaves

I paint figuratively, either from life or good quality photographs, on canvas or heavy paper, using acrylics, watercolour, pastels, or oils. The colours of my landscape palette are echoed in my pottery glazes, the greens, blues, earth-reds and browns of the hills, rivers, and old buildings of our infinitely inspiring local countryside.
