I have been creating art all my life. My Semi abstract dreamscapes, mainly on found wood and canvas often contain figures and references to nature and I specialise in portraits,working from life and photosMy driftwood art I sketch on found wood from the Severn Estuary, I love that the wood shape tells me what image it wants to be and every piece is completely unique. If you find a piece you like on the shore I can draw one especially for you.
I’m inspired by the wonderful qualities of nature and people in both the city and countryside where I’m living now in Lydney in the Forest of Dean .
The wildlife, organic forms, elements and textures found in nature, and layering of individual histories and journeys, my own and others I have been touched by . Theres always a story to tell.
In my portrait work I open to something special in each person I paint or draw and aim to convey the character behind the subject , with the emphasis on human interaction with each other and the environment, making an image with inner life.
Continuing from an early enjoyment of art when I was a small child from a family of artists, my wish is to share this, by putting my art into the world ,encouraging students young and old.
I have taught painting and drawing and crafts using recycled materials to children and adults and offer 1 to 1 as well as family learning sessions.
With my portraits, I tailor each commission together with my clients so that you possess personalised art you can happily live with.
