Ceramics
More Info
I’ve lived in the Forest of Dean since the early 1980s, and it’s where I continue to feel most at home creatively. My journey into ceramics began while I was studying architecture in Cheltenham. Being surrounded by art students working in different disciplines was incredibly inspiring, and it was during this time that I first discovered clay. I started spending time in the pottery studio, and what began as curiosity quickly became a lasting passion. In 2007, when the local ceramics classes at Five Acres College came to an end, a group of us got together to establish our own pottery studio. I became a founder member of Clay Hill Potters which was established near Newnham. It has since become a valued community — one that continues to offer inspiration, support, and friendship.
I mainly make functional stoneware, most often thrown on the wheel, although I also enjoy working with slabs from time to time. I’m drawn to creating everyday pieces that are both useful and pleasing to live with. Lately, I’ve been exploring coloured glazes and slips, taking much of my inspiration from the changing views of the River Severn that I see from my home each day.
