Ann Johnson works with poets, printers and textile artists. Her art has appeared in books and magazines, and galleries around the country. Several of her paintings have been hung at Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions.

Ann rarely includes human figures in her work preferring to simply suggest evidence of human habitation saying, "Abandoned garden forks, bits of trellis and buildings in stages of disintegration contribute not only exciting and contrasting marks to a composition, these also project mysteries and stories of the past inhabitants.”

In 2016, she published 'Wild Margins, Drawings and Inspirations' (available through Amazon) and, in 2024, ,'Wild Margins 2, After the Storm' (WM2) which focuses on the River Wye the challenges faced by our waterways. WM2 is a signed limited edition of 200 copies. Available from the Chapel Art Shop and Gallery, Abergavenny, The Courtyard, Hereford, and Ann's exhibitions.

Ann's newest book (published end July 2025) is 'A Book of Black' which features her inspirations and methods when using black (her 'constant studio companion), in a range of ways from oil and acrylic to charcoal, collage and textile.
