Glass Designs inspired by The Isles of Scilly

More Info

It is always exciting to open the kiln and see the changes that have taken place. Leigh works with texture on the glass in a painterly approach often responding to patterns within the glass that capture her imagination. She loves how light reflects off the glass surface and how a design changes as light passes through.

The calm, tranquility and colours of Scilly are reflected in her work and are often set into pieces of wood which are purchased from an ancient sustainably run woodland on the edge of Wales. Leigh's work has been described as ethereal or dreamlike .

Leigh has been exploring with capturing copper and copper wire between layers of glass, as well as painting and engraving onto the glass surface for over 10 years.

Leigh has been a regular member of farOpen and runs many classes to introduce students to working with fused glass.

Leigh's glass work has been exhibited around the Forest of Dean in different galleries including ;The Sanctuary in Newnham, The Secret Gallery in Newent, Take4 in Ledbury, Nature in Art, The Malvern Show, Tauras Crafts, The Dean Heritage and The George in Newnam.

You can find her work at The Bryher Gallery in The Isles of Scilly from April to October.
