Neski Ceramics

More Info

I work with toasted stoneware, using a combination of wheel and hand-built techniques, to manipulate and distort the clays.
My glazed ‘Shipwreck’ pots and vessels are thrown on the wheel, then textures are added before reshaping each pot on the wheel using heat and additional clay, unintentional holes, slits and uneven edges, give each pot it’s individuality.
I enjoy the unpredictability of the clay and texture as I manipulate it into sculptural and functional ceramics. I create my own textures from objects found on my travels and then finish the pots off with exciting metallic and ocean-coloured glazes, which enhance the textures.
My pots can be purely ornamental or can be used for plants, candles and storage.
I studied a BA (Hons) degree in 3D Design (Wood, metal, ceramics and glass) at Manchester, graduating in 1994.

OPEN STUDIOS DEMOS
During Faropen Art Trails, I will be working on my ceramics and drawings. Demonstrating how I create my textural creations.
Join me on Tuesday 8th at 2.00.pm and Thursday 10th at 2.00pm, for a short workshop to make a small clay pot from my collection of textures. There will be an option to fire and glaze them for an extra cost. I am willing to add extra workshops on demand throughout the week.

ART IN THE TOWER WORKSHOPS
I offer group (up to 6 persons) clay workshops at my home. Please check out available workshops and dates at https://artinthetower.com/
