The Natural Landscape has fascinated me since childhood, whether here in Britain or travelling further afield. While its physical features supported by geology are always exciting to see, I am far more drawn to the landscape through an emotional sense of being. The spirit of a location and my response to it very much forms the basis of much of my work. Using acrylic and inks in various consistencies I build up layers of colour and mark resulting in paintings which are often quite abstract. The gestural power of the brush is often represented as an innate mark made to describe a feeling more often than a physical reality. Closer to home, I often look to my garden in the Summer where wisteria, lupins, hydrangea and grape vines flourish in the Gloucestershire sunshine!Contact Details
